Spring 2023 Yingpan Shan White 7*357g cakes

This is a coarse white tea (1 bud/3 leaves) made of the 'old varietal' (tea trees reproduced by seeds, as opposed to clonal varietal selected for a specific trait). This is the most natural tea you can make: rough material and simple processing. After a couple of years of aging, the aromatic complexity develops and the sweetness emerges.

High grade teas are often praised for their beauty, but can be disappointing in the cup. This one is coarse but delivers.

This product consists in seven 357g cakes, they are double wrapped. There is a white wrapper inside, so you can take out the outer wrapper and put your own branding if you like.

Yingpan Shan is a tea area located South-East of Pu'er City, it was largely uninhabited before the 1990s. At that time, the government opened new lands for tea garden expansion, they attracted farmers from poorer areas of Yunnan to settle there and become tea farmers. At first, the plantations were managed intensively, mainly producing cheap green tea. In 2015, the government decided to make part of the area pesticide-free. The move allowed for better quality tea, but the renown of the area didn't pick up. This is why we can get a good price for value there.

We've been working with Li Chao Yun since 2017. He makes great black tea, which is very much enjoyed by our retail customers. In 2023, we ordered a small production of white tea with the same material we typically use for black tea. We let the cakes age and they are now ready to be enjoyed.
